Since 1980, the Museum has managed the University of Turin’s historical collections from Zoology &amp; Comparative Anatomy, Mineralogy &amp; Petrography, as well as Geology &amp; Palaeontology, thanks to an ad hoc agreement between the University of Turin and the Region Piedmont. Region, the Polo del &#8216;900 is the result of an urban regeneration project that in 2016 gave back to citizens Palazzo San Celso and Palazzo San Daniele built by Filippo Juvarra in the XVIII Filippo Juvarra&#8217;s imposing façade was added in the XVIII century. The palace is named after the two Princesses Royal, or ‘Madames’ as they were known, who lived there: Christine of France (1606 &#8211; 1663) and Marie Jeanne Baptiste of Savoy Nemours (1644 &#8211; 1724).\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>Dal 1934 ospita il Museo Civico d’Arte Antica, dotato di una collezione permanente di oltre 70.000 opere databili dall&#8217;Alto Medioevo al Barocco: dipinti, sculture, codici miniati, maioliche e porcellane, ori e argenti, arredi e tessuti. Il percorso di visita si sviluppa su quattro piani: al livello del fossato le arti del Medioevo, con sculture in pietra, mosaici, oreficerie e l’accesso al giardino medievale. The tour will take visitors over four floors. At the level of the moat is the Medieval art, with stone sculptures, mosaics, jewellery, and access to the Medieval gardens. Nel 1692 il complesso passò ad Anna d&#8217;Orléans, moglie di Vittorio Amedeo II, che dispose importanti interventi in quella che ormai veniva chiamata “Villa della Regina”. Sotto la guida di Filippo Juvarra, e poi di Giovanni Pietro Baroni di Tavigliano, furono ridefiniti spazi e rapporti con il giardino.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>Villa della Regina is a vineyard and garden complex built in the early XVII century, modelled on the Roman villas, by Duke Carlo Emanuele I for his son Prince Maurizio of Savoy. When he died in 1657, his wife Ludovica had the buildings and gardens enlarged and decorations and furnishings updated. In 1692, the complex passed to Anne of Orléans, wife of Vittorio Amedeo II, who ordered major alterations to what was now known as ‘Villa della Regina’. Under the guidance of Filippo Juvarra, and later Giovanni Pietro Baroni of Tavigliano, spaces and relationships with the garden were redefined.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>L&#8217;arredo e le decorazioni furono modificati da artisti in quegli anni al servizio della corte sabauda, come Giovan Battista Crosato e Giuseppe Dallamano. Nel 1865, dopo il trasferimento della capitale, il complesso fu donato all’Istituto per le Figlie dei Militari e divenne scuola per orfane di guerra e figlie di invalidi e decorati al valore. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale la Villa fu gravemente danneggiata dai bombardamenti e la mancata manutenzione, seguita da abbandono, dai parziali smembramenti e da interventi impropri, finì per compromettere lo straordinario complesso. Nel 1994 iniziarono i restauri che hanno permesso il recupero dell’intero complesso.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>The furnishings and decorations were modified by artists in the service of the Savoy court at the time, such as Giovan Battista Crosato and Giuseppe Dallamano. In 1865, after the transfer of the capital, the complex was donated to the Istituto per le Figlie dei Militari and became a school for war orphans and daughters of invalids and those decorated for valour. During World War II, the Villa was severely damaged by bombing, and the lack of maintenance, followed by neglect, partial dismantling and improper interventions, ended up compromising the extraordinary complex. Il salone centrale ellittico situato nella parte seicentesca, già destinato alle feste, era stato trasformato in aula del primo Parlamento Subalpino.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>&nbsp;\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>Palazzo Carignano was built at the behest of Emmanuel Philibert, Prince of Carignano, and was commissioned to the Theatine priest Guarino Guarini, who began building it in 1679. It is one of the most fascinating and imposing palaces of the Italian XVII century. Palazzo Carignano is where once Prince Thomas Francis’s stables stood. He was the founder of the cadet Savoy-Carignano house. The original plan was a C-shaped building opening up onto gardens, while the current square plan owes its shape to the XIX century addition section built to host the Italian Parliament. The elliptical hall at the centre of the XVII century section of the building, once used as a ball and party hall, became the Chamber of the first Subalpine Parliament.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>Oggi il Palazzo ospita 2 diversi musei, oltre alla sede della Direzione Regionale Musei. L’Appartamento di Mezzogiorno con le meravigliose boiseries dorate è aperto stabilmente, mentre saltuariamente è proposta al pubblico la visita dell’Appartamento di Mezzanotte e dei suoi saloni, affrescati da Stefano Maria Legnani detto il Legnanino, il valente pittore che lavorò nel Palazzo fra fine 1600 e 1700. The apartments of the Carignano Princes are on the ground floor. The Midday Apartment with its outstanding golden wood panelling or \u003Cem>boiseries\u003C\u002Fem> is always open to visitors, unlike the special openings of the Midnight Apartment and its halls frescoed by Stefano Maria Legnani known as ‘il Legnanino’, the skilful painter who worked at the Palace from the late XVII to the early XVIII century. Oggi possiamo ancora ammirarne l&#8217;affascinante struttura e la suggestiva bellezza architettonica.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>The Cavallerizza Reale complex is in Turin’s historic centre, a noteworthy area rich in history, located behind the Opera House (‘Teatro Regio’) and the present-day Via Verdi.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Inside the building is the famous ‘Galoppatoio’ [‘Gallop’], designed in 1740 as part of the ‘command district’ by Benedetto Alfieri, First Royal Architect at the Savoy Court, and built by engineer Amedeo di Castellamonte for the purpose of holding riding exercises and events. The ‘Galoppatoio’ is also known as the ‘Rotonda Castellamontiana’ [‘Castellamonte’s Rotunda’] and was seen as a very prestigious space because it was at the crossroads of the Cavallerizza Complex, with direct access to the former stables. It is an octagonally shaped 415 square metre surface culminating with a lantern skylight at about 12 meters off the ground.
