In 2011, artist and writer Hito Steyerl introduced the concept of ‘vertical perspective’ to address the “departure of a stable paradigm of orientation”, and to describe what can be seen, to all effects, as the emergence of a new scopic regime.\u003C\u002Fp>\n",true,"\u003Cp>Sostituendo l&#8217;orizzonte stabile e il ruolo svolto dalla prospettiva lineare nel corso della modernità, la prospettiva verticale ha stabilito “una nuova normalità visiva”, saldamente radicata negli strumenti di sorveglianza e guerra. Inizialmente percepita come una liberazione e un nuovo modo di vedere, la prospettiva verticale perde la sua presa romantica per identificarsi con il punto di vista del potere che uccide e controlla quando satelliti e droni entrano in gioco. Sempre frutto di un’esperienza del mondo costruita e assistita dalle macchine, la prospettiva verticale delocalizza e, in ultima analisi, de-umanizza lo sguardo, consentendo uno sguardo divino sulla realtà non solo in termini di posizione, ma anche nel modo in cui cattura informazioni e dati aggiuntivi, guardando attraverso la realtà invece di attenersi alla sua superficie, e generando “immagini totali” che sono insieme immagini e mappe, rappresentazioni e visualizzazioni, e erodono la distinzione tra luogo e spazio.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Adottando la prospettiva verticale come punto di vista principale, la mostra esplora il modo in cui il nostro sguardo sul paesaggio mediato dall’obiettivo fotografico sia cambiato negli ultimi decenni, e come questo spostamento di regimi scopici abbia influenzato il modo in cui controlliamo, progettiamo e modelliamo l&#8217;ambiente in cui viviamo.\u003C\u002Fp>\n","\u003Cp>By replacing the stable horizon and the role played by linear perspective along modernity, vertical perspective established ‘a new visual normality’, firmly rooted in the tools of surveillance and warfare. First perceived as a liberation and a new way of seeing, vertical perspective loses its romantic grip to become identified with the point of view of the power that kills and controls when satellites and drones enter the equation.
